The Next Generation Orchestra brings together some of the most talented young musicians in the community to perform alongside dancers of Boston Ballet II, Boston Ballet’s Graduate Program, and Boston Ballet School’s Professional Division at Walnut Hill. Under the direction of Boston Ballet’s Assistant Conductor ALYSSA WANG, this one-night-only showcase celebrates the bright and dynamic future of ballet on Wednesday, May 21 at the Citizens Opera House. Musicians will have the opportunity to work with musicians of the Boston Ballet Orchestra and will receive special discounted tickets for family and friends for this performance.

This season, the Next Generation Orchestra will perform the following:

• Overture, Rimsky-Korsakov, The Snow Maiden: Dance of the Tumblers
• Laurencia, Aleksandr Krein
• Excepts from Giselle, Adolphe Adam

Audition Eligibility

Applicants must currently be enrolled in high school or undergraduate academics. Applicants must have previous orchestral experience.

Timeline

Applications for the Next Generation Orchestra in 2025 are now closed.

Selected students will be confirmed by late February. Music will be distributed shortly thereafter. Students will be expected to have their parts prepared for the first rehearsal.
