        • Summer Dance Workshop provides exceptional ballet training, while allowing students to also explore the wider world of dance in a creative, friendly and fun learning environment. Led by Boston Ballet School faculty, the morning session focuses on ballet training, including technique and classical repertoire. The afternoon session will include enrichment classes to supplement the ballet training, reflecting Boston Ballet School’s year-round program.  For example, character dance, modern techniques and musical theater among others.

9-12 year old students are eligible for the program. Extended care hours are available. 8 year old students are eligible for the half-day program only (morning session 9am – 12noon).

        • My child is registered, what do we do on the first day of class?
We recommend that you arrive about 15 minutes prior to the start of class to give you and your child ample time to get ready for class.  All children are encouraged to use the bathroom and wash their hands prior to class beginning.  In Boston and Marblehead parents should drop-off and pick-up their child directly outside the studio.  In the Newton Studio, children should remain in the lobby and the instructor will collect them when it is time for class to begin.  All facilities have waiting areas.  All students should be picked up immediately following the end of class, with the exception of Summer Dance Workshop students participating in the Extended Day option.

Where can I park when I arrive for class with my child?
While both Newton and Marblehead have parking lots adjacent to the studio, parking in Boston’s South End can be quite challenging.  Unfortunately, there is no parking lot at Boston Ballet School on Clarendon Street.  To help assist you, click here for some suggestions for parking in the area

We are traveling to the Boston area for this program, where can we stay?
Families are responsible for making their own housing arrangements but we have some suggestions, check them out here >>

Are there dressing rooms my child can use to prepare for class?
Locker rooms for both men and women are available at all studios. In both Boston and Newton, students are permitted to bring in locks for day use only. In Marblehead, locker rooms are shared with the adjacent YMCA; there are no changing facilities in the Boston Ballet School area of the YMCA. Locks may be acquired through the YMCA staff. It is strongly encouraged that students do not leave valuables unattended.

Will lunch be provided for my child?
No. Full-day students are encouraged to bring water and a healthy lunch each day. Half-day students are also encouraged to bring a snack and water as well. Please note that water is the only beverage permitted in studios. In consideration of other students, we request that you do not send your child with foods containing nuts.

How do I register for the extended care option and what will my child be doing?
An additional extended care registration form is included in SDW registration packets. You have the option of registering for the morning (8-9AM), evening (4-6PM) or both. The children will be supervised by a Boston Ballet School administrator and will be engaged in activities such as board games, arts n crafts, ballet history and movies.

Will there be an end-of-program performance?
While there will not be a formal performance held at the end of the program, there will be an informal open house in studio on the last day of each program. More details will follow as the program commences.

Our summer plans have changed. How do I withdraw my child from your program?
Please contact the Office of Administration immediately at 617.456.6333 in order to make the necessary adjustments. All notices of intent to withdraw must be done in writing. Tuition is non-refundable after May 31 unless for medical reasons as documented by a physician's notice. A $50.00 Early Withdrawal fee will be charged for all withdrawals prior to May 31.

My child is currently not a full year student with Boston Ballet School. What do I do if he/she is interested in attending the year-round program?
Students attending Summer Dance Workshop will be evaluated and placed into the appropraite level of the year-round program.  For more informtaion about Boston Ballet School's year-round programs, please contact the Office of Administration at 617.456.6333 or click here.
