Boston Ballet School Establishes New Ensemble Group
February 23, 2005
NEW Boston Ballet School Ensemble
Rehearsals for the NEW Boston Ballet School Ensemble started on January 22, 2005. This new Ensemble group was established to offer additional training with outstanding faculty and provide more rehearsing and performing experience for our students. The faculty involved will include Principal of Boston Ballet School, Dierdre Miles-Burger, and Assistant to the Principal, Christopher Hird, fulltime faculty member, Kathleen Mitchell, and Senior Artist from Boston Ballet, Viktor Plotnikov. This experience is crucial for the full development of a young dancer striving for a professional career. In addition, performing provides motivation for all students and these experiences will enhance any dancer’s training. We are very excited about this new initiative which will give our students more valuable time on stage and showcase their talents in our local community.
Admission into the Boston Ballet School Ensemble was by audition. The groups encompasses students currently in Levels 5i, 6i, 7i and 7m. The criteria for a student’s participation in the ensemble will be based upon ability and may vary from understudying to corps de ballet or soloist roles. There are over 40 student members of the ensemble. They will be performing four different pieces at Progress in Motion, a Boston Ballet School Showcase on Saturday evening April 16 at 7pm.
