CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Boy's Class
Offered at our MetroWest studio location, we are delighted to offer our youngest male students, ages 4-7, the option to explore dance and creative movement in a nurturing, all-boys classroom setting. These classes may be taken as an alternative to the age-appropriate co-ed classes listed above.

Boys Class

Hand ‘n Hand Parent/Child Classes, age 2
*Watch a Hand n Hand slideshow!*
Hand n’ Hand is a program designed to introduce children age 2 to the beautiful art of dancing. With the help and active presence in class of one parent or caregiver, children will be guided in a playful way to dance, move, jump and run with harmony and grace. All activities are age-appropriate and will improve children's large motor skills, coordination and balance as they discover and explore the world. Hand ’n Hand creates a unique bond through the art of dancing between parent and child. The program includes special activities where children wear costumes, provided by Boston Ballet School. The class will use an assortment of ballet music as well as children’s songs to create a magical atmosphere and engage the children's attention and imagination. Held in the Newton Studio.

  • Weekly time commitment: Once a week for 45 minutes

Musical instruments such as bells, rhythm sticks, shakers, tambourines, along with age-appropriate activities and special music, help engage the students' attention and imagination.

Creative Dance, age 4

Creative Dance focuses on coordination, motor skill development, listening skills, and the development of a child's natural creativity.

Pre-Ballet 1, age 5

Pre-Ballet 1 introduces students to a more formal study of classical ballet through age-appropriate skill development, creative expression, music appreciation, while exploring the relationship between music and dance.

Pre-Ballet 2, age 6
Pre-Ballet 2 expands on students' nascent ballet vocabulary introduced in Pre-Ballet 1 through exploration of barre and centre work, while continuing to foster creativity and expression.

Primary, age 7

Students are taught fundamental ballet technique and develop the self-discipline necessary to continue the study of classical ballet. This class solidly prepares students to advance to the next level of study, the beginning of the School's Classical Ballet Program.
