Kids in leotards tried out tutus and ballet slippers as they helped the Boston Children’s Museum kick off the holiday season in style. Over 500 people - including the excited kids in the audience - attended three preview shows of “The Nutcracker” put on by professional performers yesterday. Rick Stockwood, spokesman for the Boston Children’s Museum, said the event was a big hit. “It’s given our audiences, many of whom don’t take the opportunity to come into the city to actually see ‘The Nutcracker,’ get a preview today,” he said. “It also helps to inspire the young kids in the audience to potentially explore this area of arts and culture.” The day was made possible by a sponsorship between the Boston Children’s Museum and the Boston Ballet. In addition to watching the ballet performances, the kids in the crowd got the chance to take part in workshops and arts & crafts programs.
