Pino Alosa
Ballet Master
Pino Alosa began his studies at a private dance
school in Rome. He continued his training with Victor Litvinoff,
Margarita Trayanova, Tuccio Rigano (Rome Opera Ballet), Robert
Strajner, Walter Venditti (La Scala of Milan), Ricardo Nunez (San
Carlo of Naples) and Ecole Superieure de Danse Rosella Hightower in
Cannes. He also studied with David Howard and Stanley Williams in
New York.
As a dancer, Pino Alosa’s technical
mastery and versatility have enabled him to perform various
techniques: modern, contemporary, and especially classical ballet.
He has performed as a soloist and principal with Italian and
international dance companies, including Louis Falco Dance Company,
Grand Théâtre de Genève, Teatro La Fenice
(Venice), Teatro La Scala, Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari, Aterballetto
of Reggio Emilia, Compagnia del Balletto Classico, Compagnia
Artedanza and Compagnia Italiana di Danza Contemporanea of Rome. He
has partnered various Italian ballerinas, including Luciana
Savignano, Oriella Dorella, Susanna Proja and Marzia Falcon.
In addition to the classical ballet repertory,
Alosa has performed works by choreographers Louis Falco, Oscar
Araiz, Daniel Ezralow, Jeffrey Cauley, Ronald Van Tigelen, Joseph
Russillo, Hans Gruning, Amedeo Amodio, Vittorio Blagi, Tuccio
Rigano, Bruno Telloli and Reneto Greco.
Alosa is a talented choreographer and one of
Italy’s most prominent teachers. As a choreographer, his
neoclassical works are distinguished by unusually brilliant
technique. His solo Rain Man won the Vignale Danza International
Competition in 1992.
For six years (1996-2001) Alosa was ballet
master at the Bordeaux Opera Ballet, directed by Charles Jude
(formerly of Paris Opera Ballet). He participated in the
productions of Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Les Sylphides, Le
Spectre de la Rose, Swan Lake, Petrouchka, L’Aprés
midi d’un faune, Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, Don
Quixote (pas de deux), Napoli (pas de six),
and Raymonda (pas de dix). He also teaches for numerous
international ballet companies, including Bayerisches Staatsballet
(Munich), Association Cultural por la Danza de Madrid (Spain),
Portland Ballet School, Rome Opera Ballet, The Arena of Verona,
Aterballetto, Teatro Verdi of Trieste, Balletto del Teatro di
Torino, and San Carlo Theatre of Naples.
In addition, Alosa was principal ballet master
assistant to Florence Clerc, dance director for Maggiodanza in
Florence Comunal Theatre. He has also served as guest ballet master
for San Carlo Theatre of Naples (directed by Elisabetta Terabust);
Aterballetto; Espinillo, Professional Dance Conservatory of Madrid;
and Les Grand Ballet Canadiens of Montreal.
Alosa is a frequent jurist for company
auditions, dance competitions and dance school exams.
